We Value Curiosity
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.” Matthew7:7
Curiosity is one of the quiet gifts God plants in us—a gentle nudge toward deeper faith, connection, and wonder. It’s not loud or showy. It’s the small stirring inside us that says, “What if God is doing something here and wants to reveal something new to me? What if there’s more grace to discover? What if I asked one more question?”
Jesus’ words in the Gospel of Matthew are an invitation to holy curiosity and certainly appropriate as a new school year begins! They remind us that faith isn’t meant to be static or sealed off. It’s meant to be explored over a lifetime – at every stage of development that we move through. The truth is that God delights in our seeking. God welcomes our knocking. God honors our questions—not as signs of doubt, but as signs of desire. Desire to know God more fully, understand our selves more honestly, and see the world through the lens of compassion and possibility. At Community of Faith, we value curiosity deeply.
Why? Because curiosity opens us. It softens rigid places. It helps us notice what we might otherwise overlook: the quiet need in someone’s voice, the beauty tucked into an ordinary moment, the Spirit’s whisper in a conversation we didn’t expect to matter. Curiosity keeps us from assuming we already know the whole story—about God, about others, and even about ourselves.
And maybe that’s the heart of Jesus’ invitation: Don’t stop seeking. Don’t stop wondering. Don’t stop asking. Because God is already on the other side of the door, ready to meet you with generosity, wisdom, and love. Praise be to God for the journey of faith that is navigated with curiosity and wonder.

Holy One,
Awaken in me a spirit of curiosity that leads me closer to You. Give me courage to ask honest questions, patience to seek Your presence, and trust to knock even when I’m unsure what waits on the other side. Open my heart to wonder, to discovery, and to the gentle surprises of Your grace. May my seeking draw me deeper into love—for You, for others, and for the world You cherish.
